| "Have just
returned home from a wonderful two night stay at
Dovecot House. This beautiful Guest House is the
cleanest and most welcoming guest house I have ever
stayed in. Plenty of parking and no need to take the
car out. A short bus ride into Edinburgh is a stone
throw away. The rooms are large, cosy ,bright and
just beautiful. Maggie could not be more helpful.
Her Scottish breakfast was beautifully served and so
good! No need for lunch when you stay here! Five
Stars from me." |

| "We have just
returned from our second visit to Dovecot House, the
first being about 2 years ago. Maggie (the
proprietor) still maintains the excellent standards
previously found and is as warm and friendly as
ever. This visit was to have been made a year ago
but was cancelled due to the bad winter and Maggie
had kept us informed of conditions in the area right
until the last minute enabling us to make the
decision not to travel. Don't be put off by Dovecot
House being a little out of the city centre. The
frequent and cheap bus service it is both quicker
and cheaper than finding and paying for a parking
space in the centre of Edinburgh." |

| "Many thanks
to host Maggie MacKenzie for her lovely warm welcome
on our return visit to Dovecot House. It is a
pleasure to stay in Maggie's beautiful home. Our
Scottish breakfasts were delicious and the cosy
garden room was ideal - with the birds and a pet
rabbit to entertain us! Our son and his partner
thought their double en-suite room was lovely and
the house is so well situated for both local shops
and restaurants and for bus journeys into the city.
Maggie is a mine of information and nothing is too
much trouble for her or husband Colin. We highly
recommend Maggie and Dovecot House and look forward
to our next visit, which we hope will be soon." |

| "I absolutely
loved my week that I stayed here. Maggie could not
be more accommodating and welcoming and helpful. It
was just a short bus trip to the city itself and
there was a couple of good places to eat not far
away. A must stay!!" |
|
| "Beautiful
clean guest house, just as described, "a home from
home". Maggie was just delightful and was always on
hand to make sure everything was up to expectations.
Lovely room with great views across to the distant
hills. Breakfast was lovely. Five minute journey by
bus into Edinburgh. My first visit to Scotland and
it was certainly memorable and would not hesitate in
returning to this guest house or Edinburgh. Great
trip." |
|
| "The Best B&B
anyone could ask for. Top service, bed so
comfortable and room large, light and airy. Good
location for catching the bus into the city. Maggie
went out of her way to assist us. Her cheery,
friendly nature is amazing, and nothing was too much
trouble. Breakfasts were so good." |
|
| "Maggie and
Colin are a delightful couple and make you feel so
welcome. The facilities are very nice, modern, clean
and attractive. The location is easy to get into
town from and there are lots of amenities within
easy walking distance. Breakfast was very good
quality and Maggie made slight changes daily to keep
it interesting. She was most helpful giving tour
advice, not only about Edinburgh but helping us plan
our Highlands tour. Dovecot House was by far our
best value and the stay where we felt most welcome." |
|
| "Maggie and
Colin give you a warm and friendly welcome.
Accommodation is second to none, bedrooms are modern
and bright and en-suite is available. We travel to
Edinburgh every year for the Military Tattoo and
stay here. Food is excellent, good choice of
breakfast. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else.

| "This is the
second time we have stayed with Maggie at Dovecot
and we will certainly return again. The standard of
accommodation is superb with stylish yet comfortable
rooms and the warmth of welcome cannot be faulted.
You really do feel like friends of the family.
Maggie goes out of her way to provide details of
local restaurants, amenities and attractions and
will book taxis and tables for you to dine out. This
is a real gem of a place." |
|
| "Dovecot House
is in a very pretty location and only 2 minutes walk
to bus stop with buses every 5 minutes or so into
centre of Edinburgh. The accommodation is SOOOO!!
comfortable with lovely beds and bed linen and the
rooms are luxuriously furnished. The breakfast is
extremely good and Maggie, the owner of the house,
so friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to
recommend this to anyone, and will definitely stay
here next time I am in Edinburgh." |
|
| "We stayed
there 2 nights and our hosts were very friendly and
helpful. Maggie gave us a card showing what bus
numbers to catch to go to town. She even posted my
wife's bracelet that she left behind there to one of
our other destinations in Scotland. The breakfasts
were plentiful and the lawns and gardens there were
superb. If you want to stay out of town in a quiet
location then this is it. A bus trip was about 20
minutes into town. I would highly recommend this
place." |

| "We travelled,
from Australia, to the UK in August '09 and
travelled throughout the north of England and
Scotland. The DOVECOT HOUSE was by far the best B &
B we stayed in. The only shame is... wished we'd
stayed there longer than 3 nights. Do yourself a
favour and stay here - you wont be disappointed.
Maggie and her husband were so welcoming, helpful
and catered for our every need. Providing area maps,
local knowledge and a real sense of security. The
rooms were beautifully appointed and had everything
you could want. The breakfasts were sensational too.
They are fantastically located.. short bus to
Edinburgh. 5 minute walk to Corstorphine village.
Cannot recommend this B & B enough. BRILLIANT,
BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT. We'll be back for sure." |
